Sakamoto Days Premieres on Netflix in January
Legendary assassin Taro Sakamoto will claw his way out of retirement in two parts this coming year.
SAKAMOTO DAYS, based on the manga by Yuto Suzuki and published by Shonen Jump, is set to premiere on Netflix January 11th, 2025 in two parts. The series follows Taro Sakamoto, a legendary hitman in the criminal underground who, like other pop culture figures before him, decides to retire and live a normal life. But despite his best efforts, he just can’t escape the ongoing threat of death from no less than three clandestine criminal organizations. Now, the family man/convenience store owner has to return to his life of violence in order to protect the life he’s built.
The adaptation is being produced by TMS Entertainment, who also produce BAKI, Lupin the 3rd, and Dr. STONE, with the series being directed by Masaki Watanabe, notable for his work on the 2006 adaptation of Bartender as well as the Battle Spirits series, and most recently, for directing the “Otonoke” music video for rap duo Creepy Nuts.
Part one of the first season will release on a weekly basis starting January 11th for a total of eleven episodes, with the second half of the season releasing later in July.
